Second day at sea – Only headwind, then doldrums …

Dear Readers,

so shortly before the departure it was yesterday but still a lot to do.
Only towards the 4 Clock in the afternoon we have the Lincoln Harbor Marina in
Jersey leave. Past the Manhattan skyline, yet we sailed
once densely achieved against the Statue of Liberty and past 7
Clock in the evening, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and thus the Atlantic. Even before
the bridge at the mouth of the Hudson River was the counterclaim wind from the east.
We had to cross, and were supported by the “Queen Mary 2” obsolete,
which expired just out of the harbor. All night thwarted
we against heavy seas but relatively weak winds to the east,
met two large and uniformly illuminated vessels, the
looked like aircraft carriers. One of which I got during my
Night Watch 1-4 Clock pretty close.

This morning I was greeted by the Atlantic Ocean to the changing of the guard 7 Clock with
a lull, while high swell, the sails of an annoying
Side to side, flick left. At the same time a fishing boat chugged
full speed on us to relish, we are in on the spot
Circle turned. Obviously, the cutter engaged the autopilot and
was cook in the galley coffee. Quick to the engine and out of his
Way. Anfunken wanted him already, but that he probably would have anyway
not noticed. Incredible scenes, that here in the Atlantic
play …

Since the engine now ran schonmal, I chugged against nearly two hours
high waves on the east, Egi disappeared while tired in the bunk.
Makes against high seas to engines with this 9-ton ship, with the 27
HP is motorized meager, no real fun, but after the
Kreuzerei miserable last night it was nice, times in the
to go right direction. Eventually I found very weak wind and
continued full gear: Large, Genoa and staysail. The wind picked up and we
could with 4 Node sail to the northeast. There's at least Schonmal a
“east” in it.

Egi is rested now just woken up and appears to be.
For this I am now pretty whacked, expectant after breakfast in the same
the bunk disappear. First position of entry into the great
Atlantic Map. I do not want to calculate, how many miles since we
before departure 20 Hours have done well in the direction of target. I think
not more than 35. It begins well. Sure we will have some
Days need, until we are back in full rut and us in the
Have settled life on board.

Until tomorrow!
